What Happens During a Cataract Evaluation?
Your cataract evaluation gives your eye doctor a detailed picture of both your vision and overall eye health.
1. We Talk About Your Vision
Your eye doctor and the Aiello care team will ask about the changes you have noticed and how they affect your daily routine.
Has night driving become uncomfortable?
Are you having trouble reading?
Does glare make it difficult to see outdoors?
Are glasses no longer providing the clarity you expect?
2. Your Vision Is Tested
Your care team will test how clearly you can see and may compare your current vision with what can be achieved through an updated prescription. If changing your glasses no longer provides adequate improvement, cataracts may be playing a larger role in your vision problems. Your doctor will carefully examine the structures of your eyes to evaluate your cataracts and look for other conditions that may affect your vision or treatment plan. Your eye exam will also include dilation so your doctor can get a better view of the lens, retina, optic nerve, and other structures inside your eye.
3. Additional Measurements & Lens Options
If cataract surgery is being considered, specialized testing can help measure the size, shape, and focusing characteristics of your eyes. These measurements help your surgeon plan your procedure and determine which lens replacement may be appropriate for you.
